Platform Cooperativism

Platform Cooperativism is an international movement to democratise the internet.

Think Uber, but co-operatively owned and controlled by its workers (Green Taxi Cooperative), or Amazon, but co-operatively owned and controlled by consumers (Fairmondo).

Get involved with the Australian working group to support local platform co-op projects like bHive Bendigo and link into the international movement.

If you are interested in being part of the working group please complete a short survey.

The Platform Cooperativism Australia working group will:

  • Advocate for a role for platform coops in a fairer future of work
  • Work with partners to develop a local research agenda for the sector
  • Share impactful stories of platform cooperativism’s potential
  • Help platform cooperatives get started

Darren Sharp, Director of Social Surplus and Australian editor of Shareable, is the initial convenor of the working group.
